 Tips to Help our Lake

ü  If you live on the lakes, use no-phosphorus fertilizer on your lawn.  Most lawns do not need additional      phosphorus.  The runoff of phosphorus provides nutrients for the unwanted blue-green algae bloom in the lakes.

ü  Do rake up leaves in the fall.  Leaves decompose that add nutrients and use up oxygen in the lakes.

ü  Use gravel driveways and brick patios rather than concrete so rain water can soak into the ground to reduce runoff.

ü  Leave some natural vegetation along the shore and cut grass 2 1/2 - 3 inches to reduce runoff.

ü  Allow some aquatic plants to grow in the water on part of your shoreline to add oxygen to the lake.

ü  Ashes add unwanted nutrients to the lake.  If you light fires on the beach remove the ashes so they
don't wash into the lake.  Better yet, please avoid fires on the beach.
